SoftBank Vision Fund 2 invests $160M in media localization provider Iyuno-SDI Group

Iyuno-SDI Group is a provider of translated subtitles and media localization services. Today, it announced that it had raised $160 million from SoftBank Vision Fund 2. According to the company, this funding makes it one of its biggest shareholders.

Iyuno SDI Group was created after Iyuno Media Group acquired SDI Media last month. Iyuno SDI Group chief executive officer David Lee spoke to TechCrunch about how the company’s cloud-based enterprise resource management software allows it localization services, including dubbing and accessibility features, at scale.

Iyuno SDI Group also developed its own neural machine translation engines, which were trained using data from certain entertainment genres to speed up the work of its human translators. Clients include Netflix, DreamWorks Animation, HBO, Entertainment One, and Apple iTunes.

Iyuno-SDI Group now has 67 offices across 34 countries and can provide localization services in over 100 languages.

SoftBank Group made its first investment in Iyuno Media Group in 2018 through SoftBank Ventures Asia . This venture capital arm was founded by SoftBank Group . SoftBank Vision Fund 2 joins Lee, Shamrock Capital Advisors, SoftBank Ventures Asia Corporation, and Altor on the Iyuno SDI Group board of directors.
