Ford Motor Company showed that reservations for the all-electrically powered F-a hundred and fifty Lightning pickup truck have reached 160,000, much less than six months after its debut.

Since the vehicle’s debut, the American automaker has been accepting $100 refundable reservations. Ford has seen a high level of customer interest, with 20,000 reservations on the first day, 44,000 by the end of the second day, and 120,000 by the end of June.
In a second-sector profits report in June, CEO Jim Farley stated that almost 75% of these clients were new to Ford.
He introduced the fact that about 40% of human beings have been making plans on buying and selling an inner combustion engine truck, which “shows a pass a bit quicker to tremendous trucks [battery electric vehicles] than perhaps our positive assumptions,” he stated.
In reaction to the reservation figures, the automaker stated it’d earmark an additional $250 million and bolster its group of workers by 450 to boost the once-a-year manufacturing capability of the Lightning. Clients will be able to purchase the vans in the spring of 2022.
The Lightning, which will be available in four trim levels, is an important part of the automaker’s plan to convert an additional portion of its fleet to electric power. Ford is joining more recent entrants like Rivian, which rolled its first R1T truck off the manufacturing line in September, in focusing on the pickup truck segment. The F-150 is the best-selling truck in the United States. Ford mentioned it had offered 787,422 F-collection vans in 2020.
The base model of the Lightning will begin at $39,974, while the mid-series XLT version will begin at $52,974, each with the exception of taxes.
